Being a cat owner myself, i have sometimes seen the videos of dogs saving their owners life and hence were rewarded with a lot of media coverage. According to general perception, such things are not expected from cats. However, i will share a competition with our readers that is held every year and is called “Rescue Cat Awards”. The purpose of the award is to identify and award the cats who have either helped their owners in time of adversity or themselves passed through it successfully. Every year entries are invited from the participants and the Red Carpet Event will be held in New London Theatre in the West End on 4 August. The awards can be called the Oscars for Cats! According to the official site that hold the competition:
The Rescue Cat Awards celebrate tales of feline heroism, bravery, survival and companionship and are open to any living cat rescued as a stray by its current owner or adopted from an animal welfare organisation. Our celebrity judges will select one winner for each of the following four categories while a fifth cat from the entries received will be awarded the coveted title of Cats Protection’s Rescue Cat of the Year 2010.
With the stage set and the players soon to be cast, this year’s Rescue Cat Awards promise to be an event to remember. So if you know a cat who has saved a life, survived a challenging ordeal or has been a best friend to someone in need then act now! We are looking forward to receiving your entries for the following categories

Hero Cat – Cats that have saved the day!
Ultimate Survivor – Tales of feline survival after those nine lives have been spent
Best Friends – Where a best feline friend has radically improved the quality of human life

A special Lifetime Achievement award will also be presented by sponsor Purina PetCare to an older cat chosen from all entries who has shown remarkable support or friendship to its owner over the years.
