I have three cats, a 10 year old and disable “she is my nurseâ€. She alerts me when I am about to become sick. My 4 year old still looks like a kitten and loves to be treated like one as well. Back in 2009, I came home from work and only my older cat greeted me at the door & didn’t think much of it at that time that another greeter wasn’t there. After few hours later I went to bed & notice that my 4 year old ( 2 years old at the time) didn’t jump on the bed with me “which she like to doâ€. So I got up and started calling for her, but i didn’t get any response. After a while my oldest lead me to the hole in the wall. At that place, I called for her, but got nothing in response. Not only this, I also went under my house looking for her every where for days and even left food for her but not knowing if my cat was still alive.
This incident made me so depressed that my neighbours would stop by at my place to ensure that i was ok. That Easter I drove 30 mile just to get a free kitten. After ten days when my neigbours left, I heard noises under my house and went to that hole and started calling for my lost cat and she came out.
From that day onwards, she refuses to leave my side and when sits on the chair with me, she sticks a paw out to touch me “like we are holding handsâ€. My two year old is the only male and love to play like a boy, but acts like big brother to his older sisters, even though the oldest treats him like her kitten. All three take turns watching me since I am disabled from birth and is on workers compensation for 16 months. After my father passed away now I have no family but my cats are my family.
A few years ago I was told to move to another area so I can afford my bills, but wouldn’t be able to take them with me and hence I refused to move at all. The one thing that amazes me is that all the three cats hanging around together and grooming each other, never fighting, sharing their toys and never fought over the food. Even though i am living on a low income because of my medical issues, I still make sure that my cats have food before I have it myself and this is because that they are not only my pets but my friends and family.
